[01] Education Community Stage New Protests
University professors have scheduled to stage protest demonstration at
noon, on Friday, in front of the Parliament while high school and
university students are to stage a rally in Agios Antonios square in
protest against the shooting of a 16 yo student in Peristeri suburb. In
the meantime, security forces arrested 8 people during Thursday's
violent incidents near the Athens Law School after the end of a
peaceful students' demonstration. Among those arrested is an underage
and 3 foreign nationals, there are no students. In another development,
ballistic test results indicates that a stray bullet fatally hit the 15
yo student Alexis Grigoropoulos but it does not clarify where the
bullet struck and its direction. The boy's parents have requested a
ballistic test and autopsy at the site of the tragic incident.
A group of 25 artists has organized a solidarity concert for the youth
at 17:00, on Friday afternoon, outside the Athens University
(Propylaia)
