Tension in the political stage has heightened leading to an open confrontation between the government and PASOK two days prior to the Prime-ministers speech at the International Thessaloniki Fair. In response to Boulgarakis issue, namely his participation in real estate management company, alternate government spokesman referred to the Merchant Marine Ministers statement that it met legal requirements. PASOK party blames George Boulgarakis of having trespassed ethical limits while the Merchant Marine Minister in a letter sent to the Speaker of the House and all deputies speaks of mud slandering practices and calls for the Parliaments contribution to put an end to phenomena that do not honour political culture. In the meantime, 26 PASOK party deputies, headed by Mihalis Karhimakis have submitted a question to the Parliament referring that the Merchant Marine Minister and his wife own a real estate company which was an "off shore" company in 2000 represented by the George Boulgarakis. On his part, Mr. Boulgarakis has stated that all "new data" leaked by Mr. Karhimakis are recorded in his annual financial disclosure reports he has been submitting years before the ND party came to office, adding that he refuses to follow this descent. Commenting on PASOK Presidents statement that euro-elections will be a referendum, alternate government spokesman, Evangelos Antonaros said that all elections procedures have proved the ND partys political superiority.
