According to reports 7 people are missing and 4 are slightly injured in an explosion shortly after 16:00 at "Friendship Gas" Panama flagged tanker. The 4 injured workers were transferred to Thriasio Hospital and they do not run any danger. The ship was anchored for repairs at the Perama Shipyard and the explosion rapidly fueling a fire occurred during works with the use of flame at the engine compartment. A man was located shortly ago but there are no reports of his condition yet. The fire was contained but deep smoke do not allow rescue crews to see whether there are any workers trapped in the ships compartment. Three fire engines, one fireboat and three tugboats have sped to the area to put the fire out. Port Authority officials are conducting preliminary interrogation to identify workers in order to confirm whether there are any workers missing or not. In response to a question regarding the explosion, from Kilkis GCP general secretary, Aleka Papariga said: "For many years, without government protection measures tankers turn into hells of tough exploitation. Politicians responsible for Perama crimes must stand trial". SYRIZA deputy, Panagiotis Lafazanis who visited Perama shipyard stressed that deaths in Perama shipyard are not work accidents but mass murders which continue increasing with governments watching the repeated tragedies as neutral viewers. "It is time for culprits and accomplices to pay for mass murders of workers. The government owes to fully assume its responsibilities and act immediately for the exemplary punishment of culprits and take radical measures to prevent deaths".

Fire in the southern part of Rhodes is still raging for the third consecutive day, having burned some 5.000 acres of forest land so far. Three fires are burning, one is heading to Agios Isidoros village, the second to Laerma village and the third to Lardo. Panagia Ypsili monastery has been evacuated while flames have approached the yards of houses, have burned down storage houses in Laerma and destroyed Igou forest. Air and land firefighting forces are battling against the flames while enforcement from Athens and Thessaloniki has arrived in the island. Strong winds and inaccessibility of the region make firefighting work even more difficult. Fire is also raging in Profilia, in Rhodes. France and Italy will send two water bomber aircrafts each to help in firefighting efforts in Rhodes. Fires in Tegea, Dorio and Rousso Karditsas have been contained. In the meantime, two persons, responsible for the fires in Rhodes and Baribobi, will face the public prosecutor while a third person, charged with arsons in Aigina and Korinthos will be sent to Tripolis rehabilitation center.

The 34th anniversary of restoration of Democracy in Greece on July, 24, 1974 will be celebrated on Thursday evening with the customary reception at the Presidential Mansion. In his speech, the President of the Republic, Karolos Papoulias sent an awakening message to both politicians and citizens for the combat of corruption. Mr. Papoulias refers to long standing pathogenesis, not unjustifiably considered as crisis in Democracy by citizens, calls for political parties consent for the reinforcement of political system and underlines that politics lacking morality is a dangerous case. "Some with sadness and others with anger monitor revelations of phenomena that do not honor public life and citizens not unjustifiably consider them as deep crisis in our representative system and finally a crisis in democracy", he characteristically said.

"No" to depreciation logic and polarization practices" stresses the Prime-minister in his message, underlining that extremes , doubt of institutions and equalization of all hide dangers. The Speaker of the House, Dimitris Sioufas underlines that common obligation is cooperation for the reinforcement of social state, social cohesion and social justice. On his part, PASOK leader, George Papandreou stresses that the country is experiencing the most serious crisis since the restoration of Democracy and citizens want a leadership and a government that will display a sense of responsibility, dignity and consistency when dealing with their problems.

The GCP party stresses that nowadays ideological and political oppression state mechanisms are being reinforced and anti-communist feelings fueled. SYN party underlines: "Our obligation as a Leftist party is to release those social forces which will fight for a better present and a better future". LAOS President underlines that 34 years after restoration of Democracy the political world has fallen into moral decadence which is unfortunately reflected in Democracy.
