Piraeus vets confiscated about half a ton of fresh and frozen fish that contained high percentage of mercury. In an attempt to protect public health, the authorities carried out 13 checks, two of which bore fruit. Specifically, 446 kilos of frozen tope fished in the Atlantic and produced by DIA HELLAS in Perama, and 50 kilos of local fresh dogfish discovered in MACRO CASH & CARRY Company contained quantities of mercury two times above normal. The fisheries were confiscated and the Prosecutor briefed.
