North Pole Will Soon "Melt Away"

According to scientists, this summer may be the first in recorded history where there will be absolutely no ice on the North Pole. It is believed that due to climate change, all of the ice on the North Pole may melt away this summer. Seasoned polar scientists believe the chances of a totally ice-free North Pole this northern summer are greater than 50-50. Some years ago, it was believed that north pole ice would partially or completely melt away from 2050 2100. Over the past years, the polar ice has steadily began to thin due to the rising temperatures through climate change. The polar region is now mostly covered of a thinner single-year ice each year, far different from years when the ice would build up for years at a time with various layers. Polar scientists now believe that for the first time, 2008 could represent the year that there will be absolutely no ice on the pole. This will likely be the first year that boats, oil-drillers, etc. will be able to reach the pole without having their path blocked by ice. On the other hand, some say that for the first time exploration of the seabed would be possible and significant deposits of oil will be in the hands of the states in control of the north artic circle. According to scientists another serious impact of global warming is the destabilization of fight against poverty as it creates mass migration tendencies and creation of positive circumstances for terrorists
