Six water bomber aircrafts and land forces are still fighting to put out the fire hoping to put it under complete control before night sets in. This is the third fire in Stamata in the last three days. The fire that broke out shortly after 17:30 in the Ymitos ring road , near Agia Paraskevi suburb has been also put under control. Another fire broke out in Agia Pelagia, Kythira at noon. The fire spread quickly burning 50 acres of bush land. A fire in Aidixos moving towards Loutra Aidixou village, 2km away was also put under control. U.S. light crude for August delivery was $1.71 up at $141.35 a barrel by 0925 GMT, off highs of $141.71. London Brent crude was $1.56 up at $141.39, off highs of $141.98. U.S. lawmakers on Thursday have approved legislation which directs the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the futures market regulator, to use all its authority including emergency powers to "curb immediately" the role of excessive speculation in energy futures markets. The Fire Brigade reported that 51 fires have broken out across Greece on Thursday, 22 of which in Attica. All of the fires are under control. Fire in Vrilissia Described Strange Residents in Vrilissia have described yesterdays fire there arson, as many wish to turn forests to land for selling. The President of the Association for the Protection and Development of Hymettus has stated that arsonists wish to burn Hymettus. During the last 24 hours, 22 fires broke out in Attica, four of which broke out in the afternoon within 40 minutes. One of them had broken out in Mandra and Mt Parnitha foothills.
