The administrator of the off shore company who handled money of the black funds of the German colossus received new deadline to testify on Monday. Thodoros Tsoukatos stated that the join holder submitted a statement of case. It was submitted by his counselor who made a special reference to Mr. Tsoukatos, revealing that the joint holder was doing Mr. Tsoukatos a convenience in order for the money of the partys organizations abroad to be transferred to PASOK central offices. Earlier today the business consultant of SAIK Greece testified regarding the C-41 case.

[02] Fires under Control

The fire that broke out in a forest area in Stamata, Attika, shortly after 13:30 has been put under partial control. Six water bomber aircrafts and land forces are still fighting to put out the fire hoping to put it under complete control before night sets in. This is the third fire in Stamata in the last three days. The fire that broke out shortly after 17:30 in the Ymitos ring road , near Agia Paraskevi suburb has been also put under control. Another fire broke out in Agia Pelagia, Kythira at noon. The fire spread quickly burning 50 acres of bush land. A fire in Aidixos moving towards Loutra Aidixou village, 2km away was also put under control.

[03] Oil Hits New Record near $ 142

Oil hit new record high near $ 142 a barrel extending gains after surging nearly 4 percent in the previous session, as tumbling global stock markets. U.S. light crude for August delivery was $1.71 up at $141.35 a barrel by 0925 GMT, off highs of $141.71. London Brent crude was $1.56 up at $141.39, off highs of $141.98.

U.S. lawmakers on Thursday have approved legislation which directs the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the futures market regulator, to use all its authority including emergency powers to "curb immediately" the role of excessive speculation in energy futures markets.

Oil prices have risen to $ 140 a barrel after Libyas most senior oil official, Shokri Ghanem announcement made yesterday that the third biggest oil production country in Africa is looking into the possibility to reduce production responding that way to the bill that will be discussed by US Congress and according to which Washington will be authorized to submit lawsuits against OPEC country members in case that crude oil demand drops.

We are studying all the options,"Shokri Ghanem, told Reuters, adding oil producers needed protection from what he viewed as U.S. attempts to extend its jurisdiction beyond its territory.

OPEC President Chakib Khelils comments that prices could reach $170 a barrel in the coming months, also fuelled the rally. "I forecast prices probably between $150 and $170 during this summer. That will perhaps ease towards the end of the year," he told France 24 television

Candidates who failed rise to 32.272 from 89.987, that is 35,86% in comparison to 2007 when 31.822 candidates failed from 93389, a percentage of 34,07%. As announced by Ministry of Education that released the results in public positions in universities will be occupied by 86.429 students compared to 2007s 82.114 entry positions.

[05] High Risk for Fires

As per the General Secretariat of Political Protection, the risk for fires to break out in Attica and southern Evia today is very high.

The Fire Brigade reported that 51 fires have broken out across Greece on Thursday, 22 of which in Attica. All of the fires are under control.

Fire in Vrilissia Described Strange

Residents in Vrilissia have described yesterdays fire there arson, as many wish to turn forests to land for selling.

The President of the Association for the Protection and Development of Hymettus has stated that arsonists wish to burn Hymettus.

During the last 24 hours, 22 fires broke out in Attica, four of which broke out in the afternoon within 40 minutes. One of them had broken out in Mandra and Mt Parnitha foothills.
