Hasim Thaci, Director of the Democratic Party of Kosovo met with Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha in Tirana, after Kosovo declared unilaterally its independence from Serbia on 17 February. In his first visit abroad Thaci described Albania and Kosovo one nation, adding that the two states wish to join the EU and NATO, believing that this is the only prospect through which they can contribute to peace and stability in the region. He also rejected allegations regarding the "division" of Kosovo, where about 120,000 Serbs continue living.

"Each attempt to divide Kosovos territorial integrity is doomed to failWe are working with the international community so that Kosovo can exercise its power across its territory," added Thaci.

The two politicians expressed their wish to proceed to joint projects such as the construction of a road connecting Kosovo with the Albanian Durres port, a project to be completed in 2009.

Berisha from his side assured that there would not be a big Albania, adding that Kosovo and Albania are two independent states.

Saudi Arabia has finally confirmed the increase of oil output by 200,000 barrels in the site of its Embassy in London.

The original information on the increase of oil output derived from the UN Secretary General, while visiting Riyadh in the weekend.

The site also refers to the sliding oil prices after hitting the record price of $US140 per barrel. Meanwhile, Venezuela made it clear that it would not increase its output unless an agreement is reached at the conference, rejecting allegations that attribute high fuel prices to the poor supply.
