In his first visit abroad Thaci described Albania and Kosovo one nation, adding that the two states wish to join the EU and NATO, believing that this is the only prospect through which they can contribute to peace and stability in the region. He also rejected allegations regarding the "division" of Kosovo, where about 120,000 Serbs continue living. The two politicians expressed their wish to proceed to joint projects such as the construction of a road connecting Kosovo with the Albanian Durres port, a project to be completed in 2009.
