    Rage on High Cost of Living and Oil

    International Energy Service speaks of oil crisis while social reactions escalate in Europe. The European Committee will make suggestions at the Summit Meeting during the next days. In international oil markets, crude oil rose to $ 6 per barrel after the reduction recorded in US supplies. Nikola Sarkozys suggestion; reduction of fuel taxes, seems to win supporters.

    Meantime, the White House states that George Bush will not attend the meeting of oil producers in S. Arabia. Social tension caused due to high oil prices is spreading with tragic losses. Incidents and deaths were reported in Spain, Portugal in the block outs set by truck drivers. In Madrid, protestors were arrested for blocking the traffic while in Almeria raged farmers conflicted with police officers. Spanish people have already started to pack their stores with food. Many protestors in Belgiom were shouting reinforce our buying dynamic.

    European Union recommended to state members to take coordinated measures for the relief of weaker social groups while it announced that it will look into the rise of revenue taxation of big oil companies to the benefit of consumers.

    In International Oil Markets

    In international markets today, oil prices settled in high levels as crude oil prices rose to $ 6 per barrel. More specifically, in New York share market, light crude delivery rose to $ 6,18 per barrel slightly reaching the record of $ 139,12 recorded last Friday. In London, Brent oil settled at $ 136,61 per barrel. According to the US briefing service on energy issues, US crude oil supplies were reduced within the last week to 4,6 million barrels.

    Barroso's Announcements

    UN president Jose Manuel Barroso in his statements today said: "The rise recorded in oil prices is shrinking the buying dynamic of UN citizens afflicting more the families with the lowest incomes in Europe. At the focus of out approach is the full appliance of the Commissions suggestions regarding energy, the climatic changes especially the biggest energy differentiation, the security of energy supplies and energy refund. We must save energy and differentiate energy sources.

    The letter of C. Simitis sent to G. Papandreou was released to public and rose concerns. Its content record his disagreement regarding PASOK s adoption of the opposition partys demand for a referendum regarding the approval of UN reform treaty. In his letter, Mr. Simitis speaks of deviation from the choices made by Andreas Papandreous government. PASOK representative Mr. Giorgos Papakostantinou answered and branded the letter incomprehensible as Mr. Simitis had signed the demand for the referendum in 2005. "Mr. Simitis differentiations are disorienting the priorities of the party" Mr. Papakostantinou stressed.

    The search operation to locate the president of the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece, Giorgos Mylonas, who was abducted late on Monday while he was on his way home, has yet to bear fruit

    Investigation on tracing the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece, Giorgos Mylonas, who was abducted late on Monday while he was on his way home, is in full swing.

    Even though briefing is limited-for security reasons there are hopes that evidence has been found which can shed light to the investigation. According to information, the criminals had contacts with the family and have asked for ransom, 20 to 50 million euros. Thessaloniki Prosecution and the family of the abductor have asked from Mass Media not to broadcast information which can burden the investigation or even worse to block case.

    Bills on Children's Abuse

    The cabinet met on Tuesday at Maximos Mansion under the Prime Minister and approved the bills of Ministry of Justice regarding childrens sexual abuse and issues of cohabitation. Minister of Justice Sotiris Hatzigakis was the initiator. The initiation provides for the divorce in more than two or four years. In addition the bill on childrens abuse include precautionary measures and stricter penalties. Mr. Hatzigakis made it clear that the agreement of free cohabitation does not involve homosexual couples. Internal minister explained that this issue has not been discussed yet.

    [05] In Thessaloniki

    Attacks in Aristotle University Guard Houses

    Unidentified people attacked two guard-houses in Thessaloniki Aristotle University. More than 30 people, wearing helmets totally destroyed the posts in the campus. The first post is opposite the Campus front gate and the second one is located to the Central Library building.

    After the attacks the criminals returned to the Campus where they remained until they completed their destructive work. Police forces have been developed around the Campus. This is the second time that a University post is becoming target by unidentified people. On May 30 two men attacked and beat fiercely two security men of the Campus outside the administration building. The two guards were transferred to the hospital where they are being hospitalized.

    [06] Clinic "Slaughterhouse" in Milan

    Italian prosecution authorities continue their investigations on the case of the private clinic Milan "Santa Rita" where 14 doctors are restricted to their houses and are compounded as they are charged with causing health damages, corruption and homicide. More specifically, the doctors were proceeding to surgeries for no reason causing damages to the patients health in order to collect money by the National Health System of Italy. According to evidence, 85 patients suffered severe injuries while 5 died. The doctors of this private clinic did not hesitate to do unnecessary mastectomies because each surgery made the clinic richer by 5.000 , as the Italian police officers report in their recorded phone calls during the investigation.
