Protestors were asking for the release of Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt who was abducted by Colombian rebels while she was travelling to the city of San Vicente del Caguan for a human rights rally. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and the president of Argentina Christina Kissinger were present as well as many members of the French government among whom foreign affairs minister Bernard Kouchner. According to estimations, 5.000 protestors took part in the rally to support Betancourt and her family. A French medical mission is still waiting to hear whether Colombian FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) guerrillas will let them treat the hostage. Mr. Tsipras expressed severe criticism to the government for its policy in the social reforms.
