The Duke of Edinburgh, 86, left King Edward VII Hospital in Beaumont Street, central London at 1.30pm. He has been relieved of his engagements for tomorrow - a council meeting and a dinner to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, both at Windsor - which will carry on without him. Prince Philip was admitted to hospital on Thursday after his health deteriorated having caught a heavy cold. He played a full role in the recent state visit by President Nicolas Sarkozy of France but was forced to pull out of a memorial service for Sir Edmund Hillary on Wednesday.
