Hristofias expressed full satisfaction at the outcome of his visit to Athens. He stressed that materialization of July, 8, 2006 agreement opens the road for an overall negotiation on the Cyprus issue based on the 1977 and 1979 agreements providing for a bizonal, bicomunal federation. He also said he intends to meet with Mehmet Ali Talat between 17-24 March.He stressed that his top priority is to reunite Cyprus and does not intend to open any other front in response to whether he plans to close the British bases in Cyprus. At noon, the Cyprus president laid a wreath at the monument of the fallen during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Earlier, he met with LAOS president, George Karatzaferis while after the conclusion of his contacts in Athens, Mr. Hristofias met with his old good friend, Miki Theodorakis at his house, in Acropolis. We remind, that in his congratulatory telegram upon D. Hristofias election, Mikis theodorakis says "only the AKEL party, headed by D. Hristofias can achieve a broad national front to consolidate the unity of the Cypriot people, a unity which I consider necessary precondition to proceed with flexibility to honest and fair negotiations which will finally produce a united and independent Cyprus of democracy and progress for which causes so many generations have sacrificed. Liapis inaugurated today the exhibition " Acropolis reconstruction projects and the New Acropolis Museum" with which Greece is represented at the exhibition " 21st Century Museums" housed at the Pergamum Museum, in Berlin. In his speech, among others, Mr. Liapis said: "I am very happy to inaugurate Greeces participation in this great exhibition "21st Century Museums" opening at one of the most significant museums of the 20th century, the Pergamum Museum, the first Ancient Architectural Design Museum worldwide, which naturally is closely linked to Ancient Hellenic Classical Heritage. My satisfaction is even stronger due to the fact that exhibits related to the New Acropolis Museum-also museum of architectural sculptures- are on show in such a significant museum. Earlier the court had ruled the Bank of Greece employees strike illegal and abusive. However, employees are also staging a 24-hour strike today. The Athens Stock Market president, Spiros Kapralos has apologized to Greek and foreign investors. In reference to the size of damage in the Athens Stock, its president said that those responsible- dropping hints against the Bank of Greece- should assume their responsibilities. They were awarded during an event entitled "Art of Female Gender", held at the Ianos bookstore. The president of the Akmi Society, K. Rodopoulos attended the event while Kakia Igerinou, Kouka Katseli, Pinelopi Gabra and Alexandra Petralia gave the awards.
