At their meeting with stockbreeder representatives today in view of Easter holidays, Development Minister Chr. Folias and Rural Development Minister Al. Kontos promised that checks would intensify in the Greek market. The ministers also discussed the stockbreeders demands on boosting Greek stock farming. At the same time, stockbreeders marched to the Parliament to present political party leaders with their resolution of protest. The meeting was held in a positive climate, while the ministers promised to examine the stockbreeders requests and try to satisfy them.

Meanwhile, the authorities have already to intensify checks on imported meat and prevent attempts to present it as Greek.

Mr Folias stressed that the government is interested in seeing that young people continue occupying themselves with stockbreeding.

Mr Kontos spoke about the measures that are being taken and continue being taken to boost Greek production of dairy products and meat.

Finally, Mr Kampouris appeared satisfied over the dialogue, adding that what remains to see whether the governments promises will be kept.
