    Oil Price Hit Fresh Record High

    Oil prices hit a new record high in New York market settling at 101, 43 per barrel while the Brent North Sea benchmark oil contract hit a record 99.75 dollars before settling up 1.78 dollars at 99.47 dollars. New Yorks main oil futures contract, light sweet crude for delivery in April, closed up 1.65 dollars at a record 100.88 dollars a barrel. Some underlying strength (was) coming in ... on the news that OPEC appears to have reduced output for the month of February, based on a Petrologistics report," said MF Global analyst John Kilduff.

    US: Blackout Darkens Florida

    Massive blackout darkened much of Florida. Electricity was knocked out across an area stretching from Miami up to Daytona Beach, causing traffic jams as signals malfunctioned, and forcing some shops to close. About 600.000 to 800.000 houses were cut off electricity while power was restored after many hours. According to journalistic information, 4 million people were left bereft of electricity. Miami airport, air condition units shut down. Many people had trapped in elevators. Authorities announced that they can not yet trace what triggered the blackout.

    [03] Magnituted 4,7 on the Richter Scale

    Quake Shakes Britain

    A rather rare quake measuring 4.7 in the Richter scale shook part of Britain during the first morning hours today, Wednesday. No damages were reported. The epicenter was traced in Lincolnshire 205 km north of London. According to US USGS Geological Institute, the earthquake occurred at 02:56 (Greece hour). "We did not receive any reports about injuries" a police officer in London said. The quake woke up many British people and it was felt in New Castle, Yorkshire, Manchester, Norfolk and to parts of Whales while many British who live in tall buildings in London were shaken.
