    Sources: "Eleftherotypia" newspaper

The new evidence of the Air Accidents and Incidents Investigative Committee sheds light to the causes of the multi-fatality air tragedy. As per the evidence, a technical malfunction in the decompression system is confirmed, as well as the fact that the German pilot was not in the pilots cabin during the aircrafts fall. In the meantime, as per an article by the Sunday edition of Eleftherotypia, the experts are investigating the event that the prologue of the tragedy was written on ground, when the Helios engineers left the decompression switch on manual and not automatic mode. At the same time, the second black box reveals the last anxious words of flight attendant Andreas Prodroumou. In the revealing document, there is an attempt to detect other sounds that could answer the question of when and how the pilots cabin door was unsealed. However, the President of the Air Accidents and Incidents Investigative Committee, Akrivos Tsolakis, speaking at NET105.8, denied a Cypriot newspaper article that states that he has the journal of copilot Pabos Charalabou.

    [02] Xanthi Steps Up

    27 Aug 2005 23:23:00

    By Vasilis Kalpinos

Xanthi make a victorious start in the premier of the 27th professional 1st Division Championship. In a game where both teams showed they have some distance to run, Xanthi scored the goal that ruled the showdown in the 36 with Paraskevas Antzas as scorer. Along the lines, the game was mediocre and the goal opportunities were minimal.

    One Goal Was Enough

Xanthi started off the game with a surge of power. Actually, it was the first to make the first goal opportunity with Luciano attempting the kick from the centre field, but the ball passed by the right post of Tochoroglous goalpost. PAOK balanced out the goal opportunities in the 29 when Miecels header was blocked by Pizanofski nearly on the goal line. Finally, Xanthi sliced the Gordian knot with a defender. Antzas, after a foul kick by Luciano, caught the straight header, Tochouroglou blocked instinctively, but the ball reappeared and with a close shot opened the score for Xanthi (1-0).

    Nothing Changed

With the beginning of the second half, Giannis Mantzourakis reached a second goal, when in the 50 Labriakos was found in a good position but the ball passed next from the right post of Tochoroglou. PAOKs coach Nikos Karageorgiou, wanting to make the team more aggressive substituted Akyel, Karypidis and Shikabala with Konstantinidis, Balafas and Egomitis. PAOK was obviously better but the home teams defence kept up, and in combination with the dominance of Pizanofski in the air battles, kept the valuable three points to Xanthi.
