The letter delivered by the Metropolites of Sparta and Xanthi affirms a recent decision by[08] Greece's Holy Synod, the governing council of the Greek church, that it has ultimate authority over the appointments. The exact contents of the letter, however, were not released. The two Metropolites return to Athens tomorrow and will brief the Holy Synod about their trip to Fanari.(13/11/2003 8:29:00 μμ)[09] Olympic Village in final stages of completionThe creation of the biggest Olympics project—the Olympic Village in Thrakomakodones-is in its final stages of preparation with the construction of the homes set to be completed by the end of the month. Bush said today he wanted Iraqis to assume more responsibility, a day after a suicide bomb killed 18 Italians and dealt another blow to U.S.-led occupation forces.
