The President of the Union of private tank truck owners told ours station that his Union is against petrol companies that had not kept their agreementMeanwhile, the President of the Union of Greek petrol stations Dimitris Makrivelios told our station that if the strike continues, then petrol stations will remain without petrol within the next three days. Finally, the Development ministry is examining the possibility to implement ceiling prices for the selling of petrol in tourist areas, where unjustifiably high selling prices of petrol have been reported. Xeros' motion rejectedThe court trying the crimes allegedly committed by the 19 suspect member of the 17N terrorist group denied the motion of suspect Savvas Xeros not to take his preliminary testimonies into account, which he attributed to the use of psycho-pharmaceuticals which altered his conscience. In its announcement the court pointed out the effort made by the doctors to save Mr. Xeros' life, when he had been seriously wounded by the explosion in Piraeus. I will not testify, everything has already been decided, said Mr. Xeros and left the proceedings once again. However, he may be forced to attend.(29/7/2003 11:49:00 ðì) [06] Scandalides ends first circle of contacts with political party leadersInterior Minister Costas Scandalides ended his first circle of contacts with political party leaders regarding the electoral law and met with Synaspismos party leader Nikos Constandopoulos.On August 20, Mr Scandalides will send the government proposals to all political parties and on September 1 he will call an inter party meeting for a dialogue with all political forces. From his side, Synaspismos party leader Nikos Constantopoulos reiterated that his party supports the simple proportional representation electoral system and will coordinate all political forces that are in favour of this system, so as this system prevails.
