[07] Prime Minister Simitis is examining the final details of the
government's proposals concerning the changes in the electoral law
system that are expected to be ratified tomorrow by the governmental
committee.

political party leaders by the minister of the interior, Kostas
Skandalidis.

[10] Strict market inspections are taking place by crews of the
financial crimes bureau and the ministry of the development aimed at
combating soaring prices and profiteering around the country.

[11] Mechanical heart patient loses battle for life
[12] 54 year old Haralambos Nenoglou lost his struggle for life last
night at the intensive care unit of the Interbalkan Hospital in
Thessaloniki following a 5 hour operation for the implant of a
mechanical heart. The operation was performed as a result of the
patient's severe heart failure.

[14] A grenade attack killed a U.S. soldier in Iraq on Wednesday,
bringing the total combat deaths to 147, equalling the total in the
1991 Gulf War.

Wednesday on the Mediterranean island of Sicily, killing all four crew
members.
