    Sunny throughout Greece on Sunday, with only a chance of sporadic rain in the northern mainland heading into the afternoon. Northerly winds, moderate to strong on the seas. The temperature in Athens will range from 19C to 34C and in Thessaloniki, from 19C to 33C.

    [02] New Democracy party ahead of PASOK party opinion polls show

    According to the results of a number of opinion polls that verify New Democracy party's prevalence to the PASOK party, primarily the improvement of the standard of living and the combating of unemployment determine the voters' behavior.

    Specifically, according to Kappa Research opinion poll published at the newspaper To Vima Tis Kiriakis, New Democracy party is ahead with 7.8%, PASOK follows, third comes the Communist party of Greece with 5.3% and last the Synaspismos party with 3.2%. 11% remain undecided.

    According to another opinion poll carried out by ALKO on behalf of ALPHA TV, the difference between the two big parties is 8.4%, while both opinion polls agree with the percentage of the undecided, the electoral force of the New Democracy party to 39.5% and the electoral force of the Communist party of Greece and Synaspismos.

    However, according to Kappa Research, Prime Minister Costas Simitis is considered as the most suitable leader for the post of Premiership, while according to ALKO opinion poll Mr Karamanlis is prevailing.

    A third opinion poll carried out on behalf of the newspaper Kyriakatiki Eleftherotipia, shows the New Democracy party being ahead of the PASOK party with 10.8 percentage points, while third comes the Communist party of Greece with 6.1% and fourth the Synaspismos party with 3.9%.

    Finally, commenting on the results of the opinion polls, the Press Minister Christos Protopapas stated that 'we are not threatened by opinion polls since they were carried out at a different time when the situation was different'.

    [04] Petsalnikos rules out extradition of Greek citizens to the USA

    In and interview with NET 105.8, Justice Minister Philipos Petsalnikos ruled out the extradition of Greek nationals to the United States of America within the framework of the agreement for a mutual judicial cooperation between the European Union and the USA.

    The minister pointed out that the new agreement allows suspects not to be extradited when the death penalty is valid in the applicant country, adding that the agreement safeguards the protection of personal data.

    Meanwhile, lawyers are reacting to the agreement as regards the extradition and the protection of personal data and are threatening with mobilisations.

    The Euro Parliament and organisations fighting for the protection of human rights have also criticized the agreement.
