    [03] Karamanlis in Constaninople

During a reception hosted by the Greek General Consulate in Constaninople yesterday, it became clear that Turkey's European prospects would create hope for the solution of many Greek Turkish problems and the boosting of Hellenism there.

This afternoon, the New Democracy party President Costas Karamanlis will meet with the leader of the governing party Tayeep Erdogan in Ankara, while yesterday Mr Karamanlis visited the Theological School of Chalki. The Theological School has remained shut since 1971. Mr Karamanlis reiterated the Greek position regarding the re-opening of the School.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry is in contact with the Greek Embassy in Ankara, in order to clarify an article published in the newspaper Jumhuriet, according to which the Turkish Interior Ministry distributed a circular to the country's regional officials that states that there does not exist a borderline between Greece and Turkey in the sea area dividing the two countries.
