    Rain and thunderstorms are forecast all over the country today with southerly moderate winds that will turn to gale force in the Aegean.

    The temperature in Athens will range from 12 to 19 degrees C and in Thessaloniki from 11 to 16.

    [02] Annan receives answers on Cyprus issue by involved parties

    The Greek-Cypriot side and the Turkish-Cypriots gave their answers on the Annan plan simultaneously to Mr Annan yesterday.

    The delivery of the answers was verified by the General Public Prosecutor of Cyprus Alekos Markides following his meeting with the President of the Cyprus Republic Glafkos Klerides

    According to information the Greek side is asking among others the decrease of the number of troops on the island and the increase of the number of the refugees to return to their homes to 100,000.

    Meanwhile, in an interview with the newspapers Eleftherotypia and Kathimerini the winner of the Turkish elections Recep Erdogan is proposing a packet-solution by the European Union with Cyprus' simultaneous accession to the EU and the fixing of a date for the beginning of negotiations regarding Turkey's accession to the European Union.

    On a relative development, following his successive meetings with the Turkish leadership yesterday, Foreign Minister George Papandreou stated that there had been an agreement for the continuation of efforts regarding the solution of the Cyprus issue even after the Copenhagen summit meeting if a solution was not reached before then.

    Finally, the Turkish Foreign Minister Yiassar Giakis stated that Turkey wishes the fixing of a date for the beginning of Turkey's negotiations for its accession to the EU.

    [03] Civil Servants on strike

    In reaction to the government's revenue policy, the Civil Servants are on a strike, while a march will take place to the Finance Ministry.

    Participating in the strike are hospital employees, the Social Security Funds, schools, municipalities and prefectures.

    [04] Influenza cases have not increased maintains Professor

    In an interview with NET 105.8 deputy professor of the Athens University Giannis Kosmides stated that there had not been an increase of virus cases in Greece, adding that the pill that suspends the action of the influenza virus and is available in Greece lessens the seriousness of the symptoms and limits the dangers of serious implications. Finally, the professor said that this medicine is given to persons above 13 and with a doctor's prescription.
