    A fine weather is forecast in most parts of the country with local showers in eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Winds northerly light in the west of the country, moderate in the east and strong in the southeastern Aegean. Temperatures in Athens will range between 23C to 33C and in Thessaloniki between 20C to 31C.

    [02] Investigations continue on the bomb explosion at the port of Pireus

    Greek police believe the man injured by a bomb in the country s busiest port, Pireus- was planning an attack , when the device exploded prematurely at the ticket office of the Hellas Flying Dolphin shipping company. Investigations have already been carried out in the houses of 4 suspects having connections with the injured man who is in critical condition in hospital.

    Police believe the blast was not likely to be the work of the November 17 group .

    Merchant Marine Minister, Giorgos Anomeritis said security was being stepped up at the port as part of preparations for the Olympics , which have turned the spotlight on security concerns in Greece.

    Meanwhile, Public Order Minister, Michalis Hrisohoidis said in an interview with the Sunday newspaper, Typos tis Kyriakis that eliminating terrorism remained one of the government s main targets, while the American ambassador in Athens , Tomas Miles praised the ministry s cooperation with the U.S and British services in combatting terrorism.

    [03] Prime-minister hosts a working dinner to top Pasok officials

    Prime-minister Kostas Simitis is hosting a working dinner tonight at the presidential mansion for top government officials to discuss the progress of the government s work and future targets .

    Mr. Simitis last nigth visited the ruling Pasok party s youth festival at Rendi s village park , which he described as a festival organized with creativity, colour and vibration.

    In the meantime, in his article contained in the Pasok party Youth organization web page, Primeminister Simitis stresses that the Pasok movement is called to face the dilemma between conservative or modernization policies.

    [04] Konstantinos Karamanlis Democracy Institute conference

    In his speech at the conference on the subject Effective government for the 21st century - organized by the Democracy Institute-Konstantinos Karamanlis, the President of the N.D party, Costs Karamanlis called on all Greeks who want the restablishment of meritocracy and common rules to join his party

    [05] Coalition President calls left forces to unite

    The President of the Coalition of the Left and Progress party Nikos Konstantopoulos called on the left forces to unite in order to have a decisive influence in the forthcoming local elections while he accused both the Pasok and N.D parties of following new liberal policies.

    [06] Summer sales- increase in Attica highway tolls

    Tolls in the Attica highway go up by 20% as from today while 3 kilometers of the Glika Nera- Rafina highway open to motorists.

    Summer sales begin today and will last till the end of June.
