Winds moderate, easterly-northeasterly, turning to storm-force at sea with local gales.Athens will be overcast with drizzle in the north of the prefecture and light snow on Mt. Parnitha, temperatures from 4-7C, Thessaloniki will be slightly overcast, with temperatures from 0 to 5 C. The National Metereological Service has forecast bad weather conditions continuing through the week. Many mountainous villages have been cut off due to the heavy snowfall which has also caused problems to road transport. Ferry routes from Piraeus and Rafina resumed normal operations, a ban still stands for the islands of Sifnos, Milos and Crete. [04] Labour Minister promised the social and public character of the social security systemIn an interview with the daily newspaper, "To Ethnos", Labour Minister, Dimitris Reppas stressed that reforms in the social security system would not the least influence all those who can establish pension rights till December 31, 2006.He also promised the maintainance of the public and social character of the social security system, as well as the level of the present low pensions. Mr. Reppas also assured for the consolidation of mature pension rights and the holding of a dialogue with the recognition of the special role of unions. [05] Meeting for the activation of the common E.U defence and security mechanismsThe EU General Affairs Council meets in Brussels today to decide on the American-British plan -accepted by Turkey- about the operational activation of the common European Defence and Security policy defence mechanisms.
