[02] Pasok Party Cogress 5 months earlier than scheduledThe ruling Pasok Party Executive Office unanonimously decided in its long meeting yesterday to hold the party congress 5 months earlier than initially scheduled, namely by mid October this year and not in March, 2002.Prime-minister Simitis stressed that uncertainty regarding the Pasok Party ability to deal with the critical conditions led the Pasok Party leadership to seek a clear solution. Mr.Simitis spoke of an effort by those who do not want modernisation, to continuously question the government's work. He also said that talks of an alleged negative course of the Greek economy and excessive publicity of personal disagreements and conflicts, that have no relation to reality ,create the impression of a continuous political crisis which is against the country. Finally, Mr.Simitis postponed his official visit to China scheduled for Saturday. In its statement the ND Party says that the Prime-minister has lost control of his party while the Coalition of the Left and Progress spoke of the Prime-minister's weakness to rule the country. [03] Elections in AlbaniaTension prevails in the political front in Albania two-days prior to the geeral elections on Sunday. The Central Electoral Committee is holding a special meeting to decide on its final stand regarding the so-called independent candidates. The independent deputies case has created many conflicts standing as obstacle in the pre-election campaign.
