  • [01] France's Le Maire urges solution for Greece after meeting counterparts in Paris

PARIS (ANA/ O. Tsipira) Finding a solution for Greece at the upcoming Eurogroup on June 15 was at the top of the agenda during meetings held by French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire with his German and Italian counterparts in Paris, as well as Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem.

In a tweet about his meeting with the Eurogroup president, Le Maire urged collaboration in a joint effort "to find a solution for Greece."

Following his meeting with Italian Finance Minister Pier Carlo Padoan, the French finance minister sent a tweet reporting constructive talks and saying they had the same desire to advance Eurozone integration.

Regarding his meeting with German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, Le Maire said it was "a great pleasure to receive Schaeuble at Bercy" and that they had worked together to advance French-German cooperation for the benefit of Europe.

[02] Hellenic Post to pay PPC 6.6 million euros by week's end, sources say

Hellenic Post (ELTA) will repay a significant portion of its debts to the state-run power utility PPC by the end of this week. According to sources, the amount of 6.6 million euros is to be transferred to PPC's coffers by ELTA's management.

The announcement was made in the wake of questions tabled in Parliament on Wednesday about alleged delays in payments to the power utility of money ELTA had collected on its behalf from customers paying their electricity bills at the post office. According to Serres MP Fotini Arabatzi, several customers risked losing a 15 pct prompt-payment discount or having their debt settlement with PPC voided, despite having paid their bills on time. The MP also reported ELTA delays in payments to large telecoms company.

Sources said the sum to be paid by ELTA to PPC originates from sums owed by the Greek state to ELTA for distributing the press within Greece from November 1, 2013 until August 9, 2015. The money was raised by the General Secretariat for Information and Communication, which belongs to the digital policy, telecommunications and media ministry
