  • [01] Greece's future is promising despite the difficulties, says President Pavlopoulos

    President of Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos underlined the need to remain united in these difficult times for the country, is his address in Lefkada on Monday during his declaration honourary citizen of the island.

    "The country future will be promising despite the difficulties we are facing today which we will overcome. Our country had faced huge dangers in the past that threatened even its existence but in the end it always survived. This was achieved because we Greeks remained united before the huge challenges and the major dangers that threatened us" said Pavlopoulos.

    He underlined that "Greece's position is in the European Union and its hard core the eurozone in which we belong finally and irrevocably"

    [02] Greek citizen among the injured in terror attack in London

    A Greek citizen, Antonis Filis aged 35 from the city of Lamia, was among the injured in the terror attacks in London, announced the Greek Embassy in London.

    "The British authorities informed us that a Greek citizen was one of the injured in the terror attack. He is being hospitalised and his condition is stable" said the Greek embassy.

    Filis, who had left Greece in 2011 in search of a job in London, was stabbed in the liver and underwent a surgery. The doctors said to his parents that he is out of danger.

    [03] Parliament president Voutsis: Realistic and fair agreement on 15 or 22 June

    Parliament president Nikos Voutsis expressed his optimism over a fair and realistic agreement will be reached on 15 or 22 June. An agreement that will allow Greece to tap the capital markets and at the same time would set the Greek economy and society on the right tracks, said Voutsis to SKAI TV on Sunday.

    The condition formed in the last months give a "positive roadmap" for Greece and characterised the clashes 'reasonable'.

    Referring to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble he noted that he should take into account the other voices in the eurozone and expressed the certainty that the convenient balance of powers will be formed in the next days and an agreement will be reached.

    [04] FM's gen sec Tsipras visits Panama and Colombia

    Foreign Ministry's International Economic Relations general secretary Giorgos Tsipras will pay a two day visit to Panama starting on Monday and afterwards he will go to Colombia where he will stay until Friday. The aim of his visit is to support the Greek economic and trade presence in foreign markets.

    Giorgos Tsipras will meet with ministers and deputy ministers in order to discuss ways to enhance the institutional cooperation on the creation of a favourable climate for the enterprises in the specific markets. Moreover, he will hold talks with heads of unions and associations and with representatives of the business world with whom he will exchange views and information on specific export and investment opportunities.

    Tsipras will also hold meetings with the Greek communities in Panama and Colombia. It is reminded that it is the first visit of a Greek official to both countries after many decades.

    [05] New promises and red lines and in the end nothing, says PASOK leader Gennimata

    Every now and then a new tale, new promises and red lines and at the end nothing. The heavy burden goes to the Greeks, stated PASOK leader and head of Democratic Alliance parliamentary group Fofi Gennimata on Sunday evening referring to the government's policy.

    "The worst is that the insecurity and the uncertainty are here for good" she underlined.
