  • [01] Digital Min Pappas stresses the role of digital technology to growth

This government believes that the development of digital technology is key to growth, Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas said during a two-day science symposium "Insularity and the Blue Economy: Pillar of Development, Innovation, Entrepreneurship", at the University of Piraeus.

The government's roadmap for digital growth and digital transformation is in compliance with the National Digital Strategy (EAP), Pappas said, adding that "we want the citizens - especially the children and the young people - to be able to decipher, encode and process modern technologies."

"This new era must bring fair growth to all Greek citizens," Pappas pointed out.

"Our goal is to change the lives of the people living on our islands for the better," he said.

"We will plan our future together, making use of the possibilities offered by new technologies and the digital age," he concluded.

[02] Wineries in northern Greece open for visitors on Saturday and Sunday

The wineries of norhtern Greece open their doors to the wine friends on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May. The wineries invite the people to visit them and to get acquainted with the wine production procedure and wine tasting.

The event "Open Doors" is held for 13th consecutive year and attracts over 10,000 visitors every year.

"The programme includes a series of happenings such as tours, wine tasting, concerts and others," stated the managing director of the Wine Producers Union of Northern Greece Vineyard "Wines of Northern Greece" Stelios Kehris.

The visitors to the northern Greek wineries exceed 100,000 every year as, according to Kehris, the wine tourism is a sector that gains ground every year.

The wineries will be open to public from 11:00 to 19:00.

[03] Egyptian FM Shoukry optimistic over an agreement on EEZ

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in an interview with Efimerida Ton Syntakton newspaper on Saturday, on the sidelines of the 2nd Conference on Stability and Security in the Eastern Mediterranean held in Rhodes, stressed the need for cooperation between Greece and Egypt in the energy sector.

He stressed that "it is important for all of us to broaden the fields of cooperation. And energy is a field of cooperation ", while on the demarcation of an EEZ between the two countries he noted that the talks continue and expressed the conviction that there will be an agreement.

It is important," he added, "to build our relationship, to create a climate of security, stability and peace in the area that will pave the way for better exploitation of our common resources and the comparative advantages of each country. Of course, these will create better opportunities for employment, economic progress, and revenues."

"We are facing the same or similar challenges, whether we are talking about politics or the economy, and if we work together we will get better conditions to meet our aspirations, but also to be protected from threats to peace and stability," he stated.
