[01] Amphipolis and all Greek monuments are a priority, says Culture
Min Koniordou
Amphipolis and all the important Greek monuments is our priority,
Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou on Wednesday said in a meeting with
Central Macedonia regional governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas.
"Our aim is to continue the excavations and make the monument accessible
to visitors," she underlined and added: "The cooperation with the region
of Central Macedonia is important because it is giving us the opportunity
to resume the excavations."
On his part, Tzitzikostas said that 1 billion euro funds from cross
border programmes have already been channeled to support the works in
Amphipolis and an additional 1.5 million euro funds from the new NSRF
(National Strategic Reference Framework) programme will be channeled
towards that direction.
[02] 66 pct of Athens' citizens considers that migrants do not cause
problems
Approximately 18,000 refugees are now in Athens, the mayor of the Greek
capital Giorgos Kaminis on Wednesday said during the presentation of
the Hellenic Observatory's surveys.
The three surveys were carried out at the Eleonas accommodation centre
as well as apartments rented to migrants.
According to the surveys, a 66 pct of the citizens of Athens considers
that the migrants and refuges do not cause any problems to their
neighborhood.
At the Eleonas refugee camp, the average age is 20 years old, while only
a 5 pct of them wishes to remain in Greece, the surveys added.
