  • [01] Schaeuble: Greece will not need a new programme and will tap the markets in 2018

"I expect that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will remain (in the Greek programme). It is not so important the percentage it will participate with; what it matters is that it will do so," German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Friday said in an interview with German newspaper Rheinische Post.

"I consider that Greece will not need another aid package and it will return to markets in 2018 as it has been scheduled. The Greek issue will not play any role in the German elections," he underlined.

[02] Institutions will likely return next week, EU official says

BRUSSELS (ANA/Vassilaki) - The return of the institutions in Athens for the conclusion of the stall level agreement was decided on Friday during the preliminary meeting between the heads of the institutions and Greece's economic staff.

According to an EU official, the institutions will likely return next week, before the Easter.

[03] We have results, Eurogroup chief Dijsselbloem says

BRUSSELS (ANA/Vassilaki) - "We have results and I will brief the ministers on them," Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem on Friday said upon his arrival at the meeting of the eurozone Finance Ministers.

"We have worked hard over the last week and I will brief the Finance Ministers on the results. We have achieved results," he underlined adding that there will not be a comprehensive political agreement beyond the measures under discussion.

Asked if there can be an agreement on the return of the institutions in Athens, he said that first the ministers will have to get informed and then announcements will be made. However, he said that the climate is positive.

"I am optimistic because progress has been achieved," Dijsselbloem concluded.

[04] Moscovici: Today's Eurogroup is critical

BRUSSELS (ANA/M. Aroni) - "Today's Eurogroup is important because everyone must be committed to agree on the parametres of a good agreement" for Greece, EU Commissioner Pierre Moscovici on Friday said upon his arrival at the Eurogroup held in Malta.

"Both Greece and the eurozone need a good agreement to stop the uncertainty climate and other reasons that keep investors away," Moscovici underlined.

"For weeks we have been discussing a framework - fiscal package for Greece," that will allow the country to regain its stability in the eurozone and at the same time will pave the way for the full participation of the IMF in the Greek programme," the French Commissioner added.

    [05] Light tremor shakes Chalkidiki
