[01] Energy Min. Stathakis to ANA: We will safeguard the job positions
and PPC's role
"We will totally safeguard the job positions and PPC's role as the key
pillar of the country's energy market" stated Energy Minister George
Stathakis in an exclusive interview to Athens Macedonian News Agency
on Sunday.
The minister underlined that in the government as well as in SYRIZA "we
totally agree that PPC constitutes and will continue to constitute the
main pillar of the country's energy system and we will fully support any
effort in order this huge wealth to remain in the hands of the public
interest" referring to the European Court decision on PPC's monopoly
access to the lignite. He also noted that in the negotiations on
the second review of the Greek programme, the government has managed
to exclude the discussion on the total of PPC plants and the idea of
the exclusive private participation while during the course of the
negotiations, that will last until autumn, "which will take place in
total transparency, the way we will proceed to the implementation of
the European Court's decision will be clarified".
