[01] Greece records second best year in wind power installations in 2016

The report said that total wind power in Greece was 2,374.3 MW at the end of 2016, up 11.2 pct compared with 2015. This power is distributed as follows: to non-connected islands 321.2 MW and to the connected system 2,053.1 MW.

Central Greece remained at the top of wind power installation (736.7 MW or 31 pct of total power), followed by the Peloponese (453.9 MW or 19.1 pct) and Eastern Macedonia-Thrace (298.65 MW or 12.6 pct).

The top five energy groups in the sector were:

- ÔÅÑÍÁ Ånergy with 460 MW (19.4 pct)

- Iberdrola Rokas with 250.8 MW (10.6 pct)

- ELTECH ANEMOS (Ellaktor) with 238.6 MW (10.1 pct)

- EDF with 238.2 MW (10 pct) and

- ENEL Green Power with 200.5 MW (8,5 pct).

Vestas has supplied 51.1 pct of total wind power turbines installed in Greece, followed by Enercon with 22.2 pct, Gamesa with 11.6 pct, Siemens with 8.3 pct and Nordex with 4.8 pct.

In 2016, new wind power turbine suppliers were Vestas 73 pct, Gamesa 17.8 pct and Enercon

[02] Images of the Day at the metro stations by ANA

It is a cooperation between the Athens-Macedonian News Agency with urban rail transport STASY offering metro passengers the news of the day through 20 photo frames with news subtitles, which will run in 132 television screens operating at the entrances and boarding and disembarkation platforms of the metro stations.

The Images of the Day will offer a window to creativity, art, innovation, sports, everyday life, but also the bright side of life, as well as useful information such as weather prediction.

"There were people who lost their train on Monday because they were watching the news and photos of ANA," the president of STASY Stavros Stefopoulos said in statements to the ANA's radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM.

[03] There will be no additional measures, Alt. Defence Minister Vitsas says

In statements to SKAI TV, he said that the issue has not yet closed as a result of different views between the EU institutions and the IMF which has not decided whether it will participate in the programme.

He also ruled out the possibility of new measures, adding that the measures already taken are enough.

Moreover, he reiterated that Greece's sovereign rates are taken for granted, are not set on the negotiation table and are guaranteed by international treaties, adding that anyone who has problems in its interior should solve them otherwise.

[04] 10,780 refugees stranded on the Greek islands; 130 new arrivals recorded

According to police, on Monday 10,780 people that have sought asylum and their request has been not examined yet remain stranded on the islands of Lesvos (5,347), Chios (3,428) and Samos (1,905).
