[01] No additional commitment in Finance Minister's letter to ESM,
say gov't sources
"There is no additional commitment in Finance Ministry's letter to
the ESM" said government sources noting that "Finance Minister Euclid
Tsakalotos' letter confirms the existing commitments.
The same sources said that if outperformance is recorded in the future
it can be used, in accordance with the institutions with 'on targeted
measures for the support of the social protections, the relief of the tax
burdens and the creation of a cash buffer or for the payment of overdue
debt, something that is clearly stated in the Finance Ministry's letter.
[02] President Pavlopoulos sends condolences to Russian President Putin
President of Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Sunday ordered general
secretary of the Greek presidency ambassador Georgios Gennimatas to call
the Russian Embassy in Athens and convey his condolences to Russian
President Vladimir Putin and to the families of the victims of the
airplane tragedy in Sochi.
[03] No safety without democracy, says Alt. Defence Minister Vitsas
There is no safety without democracy, stated Alternate Defence Minister
Dimitris Vitsas in his interview to Athens Macedonian News Agency
on Sunday.
After the recent terror attacks, he underlined there are two way to face
this situation: The first with walls and authoritarianism and the second
with safety, democracy and humanity. Vitsas also sent a message to Ankara
saying that the aggressive rhetoric and the violations are confronted
with calmness, composure and determination. Moreover, the Greek acquis
was not offered but was gained with struggles and afterwards came the
treaties that it official and for this reason "we do not put it on any
negotiations table"
[04] Greece's tourist result for 2016 will exceed initial expectations,
says Tourism Minister Kountoura
Greece's overall tourist result in 2016 will exceed the initial
expectations and market's forecasts, estimated Tourism Minister Elena
Kountoura to Athens Macedonian News Agency on Sunday.
Whilst awaiting the final data, the minister noted that 9 percent
increase was recorded in revenues in the major tourist accommodation
according to GBR pollster while according to the Bank of Greece the bank
deposits rose by 2.9 billion euros in the tourist season May-October 2016.
Kountoura underlined that 2016 positive dynamic continues and for 2017
as the first figures show. The early reservations and the messages from
the foreign tour operators on the expanded tourist season (March to
November) reflect a 20 percent upwards trend in comparison with 2016
from our traditional tourist markets.
