[02] Exhibition of Bolshoi Theatre costumes to open in Athens Concert Hall on Dec. 19

Athens audiences will this month have an opportunity to experience a little of the glamour of Russia's Bolshoi Theatre and its legendary ballet, through the exhibition "The Magical World of the Bolshoi Theatre" that opens at the Athens Concert Hall on December 19.

The exhibition features some of the original costumes, props and sets used in the Bolshoi's performances, worn by some of the world's foremost ballet dancers and performers. Among them is the costume used by prima ballerina Maya Plisetskaya for "Anna Karenina" or the signed ballet shoes that Ekaterina Maximova wore in the "Nutcracker".

One of the events organised for Greece-Russia Year 2016, the exhibition was organised by the culture and sports ministry, in collaboration with the Athens Concert Hall and Bolshoi Theatre Museum.

The official opening is on December 19 and the doors opening to the public from December 20 until February 12. It will be open between 10:00-14:00 on Mondays and 17:00-21:00 on Tuesday-Sunday. The exhibition will be closed on December 24, December 31, January 1-3 and January 6. There is an entrance fee of 5 euros (3 euros reduced).

[03] Former ELSTAT chief acquitted for criminal breach of duty

A three-member misdemeanors court found the former head of Greece's statistics agency ELSTAT innocent of the charge of criminal breach of duty following a marathon hearing session on Tuesday that lasted five hours.

Andreas Georgiou was accused of keeping his job at the International Monetary Fund - where he had been working for years- for a few months after taking over his post at ELSTAT. He had also been accused of not convening ELSTAT's board of directors, as he was required by law. The court rejected all the claims.

A separate case against him on whether or not he deliberately inflated the country's deficit in 2009 to push the country into signing a bailout deal is being discussed at the Appeals Council. The court initially acquitted him of the charge but the Supreme Court appealed it, so the case returned to the Council.

[04] Hellenic Petroleum wins hydrocarbon exploration contract in Kyparissia

Hellenic Petroleum won an international tender for the exploration and production of hydrocarbon fields in the area 10 in the Gulf of Kyparissia.

In an announcement, Hellenic Petroleum said it was declared as "selected applicant" in the tender. Hellenic Petroleum has also won consession contracts in the Arta-Preveza land area and Northwestern Peloponese and in the area 2 west of Corfu in a joint venture with Total and Edison.

"For Hellenic Petroleum, an active participation in exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the country is a natural selection. We are ready, right after ratification of a leasing contrac in Parliament, to proceed with exploration and exploitation of the fields in the Gulf of Kyparissia, using the latest, safe and environment-friendly technological methods, with full respect to local communities and their existing activities," Grigoris Stergioulis, chief executive of the Group said in a statement, adding that these activities will have positive results both for the group and for Greece.
