BRUSSELS (ANA/ C. Vasilaki) Greece's Environment and Energy Minister
George Stathakis on Monday discussed the privatisation of Greece's gas
transmission system operator DESFA and other energy-related issues with
European Commission Vice President responsible for Energy Union Maroš
Šefčovič. The meeting was held on the sidelines of an EU Transport,
Telecommunications and Energy Council taking place in Brussels.
The discussion focused on developments in the Greek natural gas market
following the breakdown of talks with Azerbaijan's SOCAR for the
sale of DESFA, the progress in the construction of the Trans-Adriatic
Pipeline (TAP) and developments concerning plans for two new pipelines,
the vertical corridor and a pipeline linking the gas fields of the
southeastern Mediterranean with the European market.
