  • [01] Tsipras: It is a matter of weeks to have good news on debt

The discussion on debt is already on the table and it is a matter of a few weeks to have good news, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said in an article published to "Efimerida Ton Syntakton" newspaper on Saturday.

"After the conclusion of the second programme review, the terms for the debt relief will be determined; the debt that the previous governments considered sustainable," Tsipras underlined and added: "The second programme review will be concluded on time so that the decisions on the debt and the participation in the ECB's quantitative easing programme will put Greece back on growth track. The institutions also agree on that."

"Contrary to the predictions and the difficulties during the hard negotiations as well as the doomsayers, Greece is about to turn the page," the prime minister estimated adding that the left government will remain in history as the government that dragged the country out of the crisis.

"We are at the last part of a difficult course. We are aware of the difficulties ahead of us, but we will face them as we did in the past," he stressed.

"The new era for Greece is an era of stability. It is an era of regularity, without the distortions of the past. An era of established social cohesion, without exclusions," he said and added: "On this path of recovery, we cannot, and will not leave behind those who were hit more from the six years of crisis and austerity. No growth and productive reconstruction are built on social ruins."
