  • [01] No more pretexts for refusing formation of NCRTV board, says government spox

There are no more excuses for refusing to agree to the formation of the new board of the country's TV regulator, government spokeswoman Olga Gerovasili said in a tweet on Thursday, after parliament approved amendments to the original TV licensing law, granting more powers to National Council for Radio and Television.

"There are no more pretexts for not forming the National Council for Radio and Television. On Monday, we'll know. We must complete this step of consensus," Gerovasili tweeted.

[02] Police evacuates mosque construction site

A police operation was launched early on Friday to evacuate the site in Votanikos occupied by 15 people in protest against the construction of a mosque.

The 15 persons have been detained. Police forces will now be in the site 24 hours a day.

[03] Refugee issue dominates Education Min Filis' meeting with German MEP Keller

Education Minister Nikos Filis on Thursday met with Greens MEP Ska Keller who has developed a broad action on the rights of refugees and migrants.

The Greek minister thanked Keller on her positive actions to help our country and briefed her on the refugee issue.

Keller was particularly interested in the education of refugee children and was briefed on the operation of educational structures that have already been opened on the initiative of the Ministry of Education in various regions of the country. She recognized the effort made by the entire Greek society and the Greek government to tackle this huge problem and promised that Greece can count on the help and support from the European Greens.
