[01] Politics, security and economy dominate trilateral
Greece-Cyprus-Palestine meeting
The first meeting between the foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus and
Palestine was held in New York on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the
high-level Week of the UNGA.
"Today we started a great trilateral cooperation … We decided to set
up a meeting of our political directors to prepare the next ministerial
meeting for January 2017," he told journalists after talks with Cypriot
and Palestinian counterparts Ioannis Kasoulidis and Riyad al-Malki
respectively.
"The issues are the strategic situation in the region, and the formation
of security and stability of structures … as well as co-operation
in a number of areas, from education and tourism to creating economic
partnerships for the benefit of our peoples," the minister said, noting
they discussed issues of great interest to all three sides.
On his side, Kasoulidis said the talks brought together countries
that share the same principles. "It's a kind of an organization of
a cooperation that includes political issues, brings together three
countries that share the same values concerning fighting terrorism and
asymmetric threats and which also sets a positive agenda concerning
cooperation in tourism, economy and the environment," he said.
