  • [01] We speak of total transparency, says Gen.Sec for Information Kretsos on TV licences procedure

The opposition parties' arguments over 'a new corruption case' on the TV licence procedure are "silly things," the general secretary of information Lefteris Kretsos said on Tuesday.

"The opposition is criticing the procedure because they did nothing for 27 years, they did not make the TV channel owners to pay," he said speaking to ANA's radio "Praktorio 104.9 FM".

"We speak of total transparency; these are our intentions and how we wanted the TV channels to operate; everything else is ludicrous. This was also apparent in the tender because as it was organised, the government could not favour any enterprise or any business interest."

On the decision of the Council of State regarding the issue of TV licences, Kretsos said: "We believe that what we did was according to the law. I never make any comments and I do not want to refer to issues of Justice."

Kretsos also said that the audits on the state of wealth of high bidders has been completed and "we expect the payment of the first installment (82 mln euros) until the deadline of 26 September."
