[01] Coast guard rescues 67 migrants stranded on deserted islets
Greece's coast guard rescued 67 people, including children, from two
small deserted islets about 3.5 nautical miles off the southern coast
of the Peloponnese at dawn on Friday, authorities said.
The migrants, of various nationalities, were found waiting on the rocks
of the islets next to the small wooden boat they had boarded. Kalamata's
coast guard was alerted after an unidentified man called the police
to report the presence of a boat near Sapienza, another islet off the
Peloponnese coast.
All migrants have been transferred to the closed sports center of Pylos
and await their registration.
