  • [01] Paros airport belongs only to the people, says PM Tsipras

"This work has only one proprietor and this is the people of Paros. It does not belong to any government or authority but only to the people of Paros" said Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Friday inaugurating the new airport on the island of Paros.

Tsipras said that infrastructure works as the airport of Paros must proceed in order to create a safe ground for the recovery of the economy.

"The airport will give a breath to an island which is very popular and will promote Greece and the Greek tourism" said Tsipras.

On his part, Infrastructures Transport and Networks Minister Christos Spirtzis underlined that infrastructures do not belong to any government or minister but to the citizens.

[02] Greek PPI down 7.8 pct in June

Greek producer's price composite index in the industrial sector (measuring both the domestic and external markets) fell 7.8 pct in June this, compared with the same period in 2015, after a 5.7 pct decline recorded in the 2015-2014 period, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development to a 7.3 pct decline in the domestic market index and a 9.3 pct fall in the external market index.

[03] Greek debt relief will be discussed at the europarliament in September, says europarliament VP Papadimoulis

The course of the Greek programme and the issue of the debt relief will be discussed at the europarliament plenum in September, said europarliament vice president and SYRIZA MEP Dimitris Papadimoulis to AMNA radio "Praktoreio 104.9" on Friday.

Commenting on the report of the IMF independent evaluation office report on the mistakes in the Greek fiscal adjustment programme, he called it positive that the report was released. "I expected from Ms Lagarde and the IMF officials to insist on the debt relief in the discussion that will be held in September".

Referring to the developments in Turkey, he called the situation 'alarming' and referred to a pogrom adding as vice president of the europarliament that if the Turkish leadership reintroduces the death penalty then "any discussion on Turkey's European perspective will be automatically interrupted ".

Commenting German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble's initiative sanctions not to be imposed on Spain, Papadimoulis said that Schaeulbe showed 'flexibility' because his political friend Mr. Rajoy is trying to form a government in Spain.
