[01] State budget primary surplus at 2.7 billion euros in Jan-Jun 2016,
central bank reports
Central government net borrowing needs on a cash basis in Greece fell to
526 million euros in January-June 2016, down from 1.851 billion euros
in the same period in 2015, the central bank announced on Friday. The
state budget primary surplus rose to 2.755 billion euros in the same
period, from 1.3 billion euros in the first half of 2015.
During this period, ordinary budget revenue amounted to 20,690
million euros, compared to 19,113 million euros in the corresponding
period of last year. Revenue of 43 million euros regarding Securities
Markets Programme (SMP) income transfers from the Bank of Greece were
excluded. Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to 22,182 million euros,
from 21,470 million euros in January-June 2015, the Bank of Greece
announcement said.
[02] Publisher Stavros Psycharis summoned to testify in Parliament inquiry
Greek publisher Stavros Psycharis has been summoned to appear before a
Parliamentary examining committee on August 3 and testify in its ongoing
inquiry into bank loans given to political parties and media companies.
Psycharis joins a large company of media enterprise owners summoned
to testify to the committee, with SKAI owner Yiannis Alafouzos due to
appear on July 27, Pegasus owner Fotis Bobolas due to appear on August
2 and Alpha television station owner Dimitris Kontominas due to appear
on August 4.
