  • [01] EU Commission president Juncker in Athens

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker will visit Athens on June 21.

Juncker will meet with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. He will also be keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), at 19.30.

Moreover, the president of the European Commission will visit the Economic and Social Committee to discuss with social partners.

[02] International committee of experts on labour issues starts meetings in Athens

The international committee of experts on labour issues, set up jointly by the institutions and the Labour Ministry, will meet on Tuesday with representatives of the social partners and on Wednesday with employers' organizations.

The meetings will focus on the minimum wage, collective labour agreements and mass layoffs. The Greek side has rejected the possibility of abolishing the two extra salaries in the private sector while the IMF seems to insist on that.

The committee will make a resolution, likely in September, outlining the way in which the institutional framework of labour relations in Greece will be aligned with that of the European Union.
