[01] PM Tsipras hails work of firefighters as wildfire season starts
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras expressed on Friday the State's gratitude,
solidarity and full support for the work of fire fighters who "risk
their lives to battle fires", during a visit at the fire department's
special operations squadron, at the Elefsina Air Base.
Speaking to the firefighters, Tsipras said he knows there are shortages in
resources "as the crisis has hit all sectors", but added the government
intends to address these shortages in the immediate future in the best
possible way. The fire department currently has 30 aircraft available for
this season, but recognized some of them are old and need to be replaced,
he said.
