  • [01] President Pavlopoulos: With sacrifices, Greece reinforces its course in the EU

"We must recognize that Greece with enormous sacrifices and the decisive contribution of all political forces with a European orientation reinforces its course in the European Union and the hard core of the eurozone," Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Sunday said in a ceremony for his proclamation as an honorary citizen of Larissa.

"But it is also determined with its pro-European political forces, united in this direction, to contribute with our other partners to the great European family, to its founding principles and values, to lead the world affairs, based on humanism, peace, democracy, social justice and sustainable development," he added.

[02] The sooner this government leaves, the better for this place, main opposition leader Mitsotakis says

"As long as this government remains in power, it will be a government of damage," main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Sunday in a party conference.

Mitsotakis estimated that the measures taken will not give a definite solution to the problems of the economy adding that the 5.4 billion euro package of measures along with the 3.6 billion euro contingent measures are the result of the prime minister's political lack of credibility.

He explained that the policy followed is completed wrong and stressed that he asked for elections with great responsibility. "Whatever the cost of early elections, it will be less that the cost of the government remaining in power. The call for early elections is timely and will remain timely because this government does not deal with the problems of the citizens. The sooner it leaves, the better for this place," he concluded.

[03] The next day of the Eurogroup finds Greece in a better position, Energy Min Skourletis says

"The next day of the Eurogroup finds Greece in a better position," Environment and Energy Minister Panos Skourletis said in an interview with ANA-MPA referring to the relations with our partners.

Skourletis explained that the future is not 'untroubled', but this government has proved, he said, that is can solve the greatest problems in the best possible way.

Moreover, he stressed that the government has achieved the best possible results based on real correlations.

The minister also underlined that the appropriate climate and conditions for growth from the middle and towards the end of 2016 are being created adding that investments are always welcomed by the government provided that are based on: the protection of the environment, the respect of legislation and the protection of public interest.

Regarding the investment in Skouries, Chalkidiki, he said that there are still many 'chapters' ahead and warned those that speak of a government's change of mentality that they rush.

On the possibility of early elections, he said that this possibility has become distant after the recent developments in the negotiations.
