  • [01] Works by Greece's first banknote designer Akselos on display at Bank of Greece Museum

The work of the artist who created the emblem of the Bank of Greece and designed the artwork on a series of Greek banknotes issued at the beginning of the previous century is presented in the exhibition: "Michail Akselos (1877- 1965) - Between two worlds", which will open on Friday.

Until 1918, when he was assigned to design the new type of banknotes, the design and production of Greece's banknotes took place in other countries. That makes Michail Akselos the first Greek designer of paper money and coins. However, this important artist is not widely known.

This exhibition is based on his other work, most of which was unshown until now.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos is going to inaugurate the exhibition on Dec. 18. The audience will be able to visit the exhibition from Tuesday the Dec. 22 and on.

[02] Council of State orders backdated revision of real estate tax valuations

The Council of State, Greece's highest administrative court, on Wednesday published a ruling that obliges the government to issue a ministerial decree that revises the tax valuations of real estate throughout Greece - according to which taxes and other fees are calculated - backdated to May 21, 2015.

The ruling was almost unanimous, with only two justices dissenting.

[03] NameExoWorlds vote gives ancient Greek names to three exoplanets

With all 573,000 votes from 182 countries now counted, the global NameExoWorlds public vote has selected ancient Greek names for three, out of a total of 31, exoplanets and 14 stars, which were officially named via avote organised by the International Astronominal Union (IAU).
