[01] Earthquake moved Lefkada 36 cm south, say seismologists
The island of Lefkada moved 36 cm to the south after the strong
earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale that stroke the Ionian
island on Tuesday according to Athens Geodynamics Institute data
collected by the GPS station at Ponti on Lefkada. It is a big movement
that surprised us, said the Institute's chief Athanassios Ganas.
"It makes sense after this quake" said to ANA-MPA seismologist-researcher
Gerassimos Chouliaras. A similar movement happened and on Cephalonia
after January 2014 earthquake, he added.
