[01] ECB does not raise ELA for Greek banks, capital controls continue
ANA-MPA -- The European Central Bank (ECB) governing council has left
the lending limit for Greek banks from Emergency Liquidity Assistance
(ELA) unchanged at just under 89 billion euros, during a meeting of
its governing board on Monday, sources said.
In light of the decision, Greece's Alternate Finance Minister Dimitris
Mardas has decided to extend a bank holiday for a few more days, as
well as restrictions on cash withdrawal, during a meeting held at the
General Accounting Office with bank representatives earlier on Monday.
Details are to be included in a Legislative Act to be issued later in
the day, while the ECB will re-examine its decision on Wednesday.
