  • [01] ND leader Samaras calls on PM Tsipras to assume his responsibilities

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Antonis Samaras on Monday called on the Prime Minister to assume his responsibilities because we cannot afford to lose any more time.

"The interruption of the negotiations is a very bad development. Rift is not a solution. Rift leads to destruction," Samaras added.

[02] Fofi Gennimata elected PASOK leader

ANA/MPA---Fofi Gennimata was elected PASOK's fifth party leader late on Sunday.

"I take the responsibility of the party with full knowledge of the difficulties," Gennimata underlined.

"I believe that we can become strong and proud again, renew our ties with society. We will reform and change PASOK. We will take initiatives to unite the democratic party. We will proceed with collectivity and the values of social democracy for a Greece of solidarity, social justice and development, with stable European perspective," she stated.

The candidates for the party's leadership were Fofi Gennimata, Andreas Loverdos and Odysseas Konstantinopoulos.

Fofi Gennimata is daughter of Giorgos Gennimatas co-founder of PASOK.

[03] FinMin Varoufakis: We will not sign an extension of the crisis

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, speaking to radio station "Sto Kokkino", on Monday appeared optimistic about the next day of the interruption of the negotiation.

"Today is a very nice day, we have finally come to the moment of clarity. Yesterday Greece said enough is enough, it is now the Europeans' turn to take decisions," he said.

"Today is a good day because things have cleared out. The Eurogroup's message has been clear since the beginning; either you sign the memorandum or the country goes on the rocks. We began a negotiation process. At last we arrived at the point where Europe must decide whether it is interested in the Europe of the peoples. By no means will we sign an extension of the crisis. We do not have a mandate from the Greek people to sign an agreement that will release the next tranche and continue indefinitely the recession," he added.
