[01] Government battling for mutually beneficial agreement, Flambouraris
ANA-MPA -- Charging a "systematic effort from some quarters" for
the cancellation of what had been agreed, Minister of State Alekos
Flambouraris stressed in an interview with the Sunday edition of the
newspaper "Avghi" that the government was fighting to arrive at a
mutually beneficial agreement with Greece's lenders.
He accused the same quarters of "dishonest" statements and reports that
sought to present political disagreements as a lack of preparation and
clarity on the part of the Greek government. "If we reach deadlock...the
result will be to dangerously increase economic and geopolitical
instability worldwide," Flambouraris added. While not entirely ruling
out a referendum to decide the issue, the minister did not consider the
possibility especially likely and blamed the previous government for
"leaving the coffers empty." With respect to the programme outlined
by the government in Thessaloniki before the elections, he noted that
this was not a 100-day programme but a four-year programme, which the
government had started to implement from its first month in power.
