[01] Undocumented migrants located in Gavdos island spent the night in
town of Kastri
ANA - MPA -- The 140 undocumented migrants located on Thursday in
several areas on the island of Gavdos, south of Crete, spend the night
at the local primary school and a tavern in the main town of Kastri,
until authorities decide where they will be transferred.
Two doctors with medical equipment arrived at the island late on Thursday
with a Coast Guard ship, while three migrants in need of medical care
were transferred with the same vessel back to Crete. Local residents
are providing food.
Authorities have said the migrants arrived on a large fishing boat in
the area of Tripiti, just off the southern coast of the island, from
where they managed to reach the shore by themselves.
[02] Speedrunner ferry docked at Milos, 'Mykonos' ferry at Syros due to
adverse weather
ANA - MPA -- A Speedrunner ferry serving the itinerary to Serifos,
Sifnos and Milos has docked at the port of Milos since Thursday evening
due to bad weather conditions, the Shipping ministry announced on Friday
(Greek Orthodox Good Friday).
The ferry carried 400 passengers on board who safely disembarked at
Milos and is expected to continue its itinerary to Piraeus once the
weather allows it. Another ferry, ‘Mykonos', which also sailed
from Piraeus last night for Syros, Mykonos, Evdilos, Karlovasi and
Vathi has docked at the island of Syros, also due to adverse weather
conditions. The ship had 429 passengers on board, 43 cars, 23 trucks
and 14 motorcycles. ‘Mykonos' ferry is expected to continue for Ikaria
Island once the Coast Guard lifts the sailing ban.
