[01] ANEL spokesman: End to policy and reforms that will lead Greeks to
more squalor
ANA/MPA---Independent Greeks (ANEL) spokesman Marina Chrysoveloni
clarified in an interview with ANA-MPA on Friday that the announced
draft laws move on the direction of the Greek people's relief and
"we must table them. It is our red line."
"End to the policy, the goals and the reforms that will lead the Greek
people to further squalor and dissolution because the government's first
reforms are moving on the direction of the Greek people's relief. In any
case, the government should not step back from anything that may burden
more the Greek citizens' life conditions," noted Chrysoveloni.
Asked on German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble's stance, she stressed
"I believe that Mr. Schaeuble has been isolated, probably he received
the answer from the Commission. We see that despite Schaeuble's will to
reject Greece's request as unacceptable, it is forwarded to the Eurogroup
for discussion. I believe that a beneficial agreement for Greece will
exist and in full correspondence with the mandate, that the government
received from the Greek people in the general elections on January 25,
to put an end to the austerity policy that has dissolved that country's
social web. The agreement will have the meaning of the extension of the
loan agreement and not of the implementation of the same programme with
the commitment on our part that we will not proceed to unilateral actions
or targets and reforms with enormous fiscal cost. We expect today's
(Friday) developments with the hope that everything will go all right,
because, as the prime minister said, the solution for Greece will be
a solution for Europe not only for Greece. The problem is not only
Greek...We support a EU in which the member states will be equal. We
reject and condemn the role Germany wants to play".
ANEL is the junior party that participates in SYRIZA government.
