  • [01] Government's negotiations with troika concluded; new meetings on Thursday

ANA-MPA -- Greek government ministers negotiations on Wednesday with the EU-IMF troika representing Greece's lenders, discussing issues related to their portfolios were concluded in Paris.

"We had productive discussions today (Wednesday) with the ministers. We will make a review on Thursday and we hope to have the total evaluation ready at the end of September" said the representative of the European Commission Declan Costello.

According to government's sources, the Greek side tabled the issues that should be proceeded and on its part the troika reserved to present its positions on Thursday's meetings.

The troika representatives met with Development and Competitiveness Minister Nikos Dendias, Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis, Justice Minister Haralambos Athanassiou and Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

[02] 'Integration of social security funds does not mean a uniform pension,' Dep.Labour Minister says

The Labour Ministry aims at the operational and organisational integration of the pension funds, but that does not mean a uniform pension for everyone, Deputy Labour Minister Vassilis Kegeroglou said in an interview with ANA-MPA on Thursday.

Commenting on a report that the government is planning to set up a single National Social Security Fund where all pension funds will be integrated, Kegeroglou admitted that certain proposals were being considered, but all these are just scenarios for the time being.

"The operational and organisational integration is, of course, our target. However, this does not mean the same pension for everyone," he underlined adding that this is wrong as each pension fund has a different history.

The full interview of Kegeroglou is available at ANA-MPA website.
